Ravenwood Announcement 5/4/2020
As some of you may already know, Dr. Wagnon has made the decision to transition the ownership of Ravenwood to one of her current veterinarians, Dr. Merrigan. The transition process started in August 2019, and was completed April 10, 2020. Dr. Wagnon will be staying on in a mentorship capacity to both Dr. Merrigan and the staff at Ravenwood. We know that change can be difficult, however we are hopeful that this process can be smooth and can allow Ravenwood to continue as the locally-owned hospital that you have all grown to trust over the years.
Dr. Merrigan has been with Ravenwood since 2013. She worked as a relief veterinarian to the practice until 2018 when she took a full-time position with the team. Dr. Merrigan has 10 years of emergency medicine experience, and during her time practicing ER medicine, she was able to continue to keep up with her general practice skills through relief work at Ravenwood. The exceptional medicine, patient care, and personal relationships built with clients eventually brought her from ER work back to general practice at Ravenwood.
A note from Dr. Wagnon:
I am very relieved to be able to pass the reins to a doctor who believes that every client and every patient is an individual. I am also very grateful to find a situation where I am welcome to stay and is flexible with letting me work as my health allows.
I would not want someone to run this practice pretending to be me, I believe someone must run this dream in their fashion, cherishing the same goals, ethics and integrity that has made Ravenwood special. I am looking forward to continuing to be working with our amazing staff, seeing our wonderful clients, and continuing to be part of our patients’ care.
I am going to enjoy working with Dr. Merrigan as she guides Ravenwood through these crazy times and gets the next set of dreams going that I didn’t get to!
Thank you all for all you have been to me, please stay safe,
Dr. Susan Wagnon
A note from Dr. Merrigan:
I would just like to take this time to wholeheartedly and sincerely thank Susan Wagnon for being the best mentor that I could have ever asked for during this process. I am so happy that Dr. Wagnon will be staying on in a mentorship capacity both for myself and for our staff. It is no secret to our staff that she enjoys teaching, and I am so excited that she can continue to do so. I know that change can be daunting, but I am here to ensure that the same principles that Dr. Wagnon instilled into Ravenwood 30 years ago continue: The patient always comes first, we continue to practice high-quality medicine, and that we listen to our clients and treat them with the same kindness, compassion, and respect that we ourselves would expect to be treated.
I would also like to thank our clients as well. The kindheartedness you have shown to me and to our staff throughout the time that I have been a veterinarian here has been overwhelming. I am so overjoyed to be a part of Ravenwood’s ongoing mission to keep our furry family members happy and healthy for many years to come!
With sincere gratitude,
Dr. Jamie Merrigan
**When the situation allows, we look forward to celebrating with an open house for our clients**
